Pool of Light is Anton Bogdanov, a solo ambient drone artist, born in Siberia Russia, He lived in Shenyang China from 2013-2020, but now lives in St. Petersburg, Russia. The title of the album, and all the tracks are in Chinese (characters), so I used a Chinese -English translator to get the names.
This set of six track is a tribute to Mark Lanegan, Lead singer of the Screaming Trees, one of my all time favorite bands, who died on Feb. 22 at the age of 57. After the Screaming Trees broke up, he was the lead singer in Queens of the Stoneage, and also had an acclaimed solo career.
Shortly after the album Dust was released in 1996, Epic records dropped the band. In the years of 1998 and 1999, the band recorded this album in Pearl Jam’s guitarist Stone Gossard’s studio, but it was never released due to the bands' break up in 2000. Screaming trees drummer Barrett Martin (who replaced original drummer Mark Pickerel in 1992) released it 11 years later on his own label - Sunyata.
This song is on the 1997 Lawless records collection of Unnatural Axe's recordings - "Unnatural Axe is Gonna Kick Your Ass" -but the track on that is missing the last note. I checked my CD & online, that last note is cut off & it sounds really weird!
Reissue from Guerssen Records, this track is also on the compilation "Love, Peace & Poetry: British Psych 1966-72"( released by Grapefruit Records in 2013).
A reissue of the album from 1982 on Mordam records. Formed in 1973 in Los Angeles, they dressed up as space aliens (check out their album cover), gave themselves alien names, and spoke a made up alien language. They broke up in 1981, Recorded demos, but never released an album. Reformed in 2004.
