Collection of songs resulting from one late summer afternoon in Gendel’s Los Angeles home, is less an album and more a moment. The ten tracks here were recorded mostly in one sitting, fully improvised, in the order in which they appear. It was the first and last time the songs have been played. At the time of recording, Cytrynowicz was only eleven years old. The younger sister of Gendel’s significant other and creative partner Marcella, Cytrynowicz is an artist in her own way. She has no formal musical training. She spontaneously crafted all the melodies and lyrics on the spot as Gendel played alongside her.

"_Adrianne Lenker met Buck Meek at a show in Boston in 2012 while she was attending Berklee. The came together later in Brooklyn and began performing as a duo, eventually marrying. Lenker's early years were spend in a cult -- her parents eventually left it -- and had a nomadic childhood. She never went to high school & got a black belt in karate. Meek & Lenker divorced in 2018, the band held together. Lenker spent some significant pandemic time alone in a cabin in western MA. I assume this release includes some of the material generated during that time. _"

"_This recording was made on Feb 14, 1964 at Monbra, a village a day's walk on a footpath from Kong to Ngambe in Central Cameroon. The recordings were made by Gerhard Kubik, who provides liner notes, or -- he says -- another member of his team. The current population of Tikar in Cameroon is approximately 168,000-173,000. The earliest historical accounts the people have of their origins dates back to the 12th century. Majority of the Tikar people would later be kidnapped by Fulani traffickers in the 18th and 19th centuries, who were angry at the Tikar's thriving trade deals through iron-working and mask-making. They were then sold into slavery and forcibly taken to the Americas in the Atlantic Slave Trade, leading to the drastic decline of the Tikar ethnic group in Cameroon. Through DNA testing, people of African descent across the United States and the Carribean have been able to trace their maternal lineages to the Tikar people of Cameroon. This includes notables such as Quincy Jones, Condeleezza Rice, Wanda Sykes, Don Cheadle, and Spike Lee. - wiki_"
