R.I.P. Jim Stewart, co-founder of Stax Records in 1957 (along with his sister Estelle Axton, the "AX" in "StAX"). It was called "Satellite Records" till 1961. He died Dec 5th, at age 92. The Anita Kerr, who was born 'Anita Grilli', recently died October 10th, at age 94. Her vocal harmony groups sang on hundreds of sessions, starting in 1950 with Red Foley on 'Our Lady of Fatima'. Well, we had already started plans to have Stax as a subsidiary of Satellite, so what we did was just drop the name (we never much liked it anyway) right in the middle of 'Last Night' - so half of it is on Satellite, half of it is on Stax {Records}".
