This is one of the first songs written by Jim Morrison; supposedly he wrote "Moonlight Ride" during his days living on a rooftop in Venice Beach, LA in 1965. When he first met Ray Manzarek, he told him "Let's swim to the moon, let's climb through the tide, penetrate the evening that the city sleeps to hide". Reportedly Manzarek was awestruck, and they decided to form a band. // This album was ranked No. 409 on Rolling Stone's list of "The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time', and #20 on Ultimate Classic Rock's list of the "Top 25 Psychedelic Rock Albums".
* - also, Winter's highest-charting single (he was an "album" guy ... / The group included guitarist Rick Derringer and bassist Randy Jo Hobbs, both former members of the McCoys.
The song emerged during a soundcheck in Madrid on a European tour in January 1987. Luckily for Pat DiNizio, the band's roadie was there with his pocket tape recorder when he came up with the intro riff. DiNizio: "[He] heard me scream "Chopper, tape this!!" I would have never remembered it otherwise." / Click on Link above, to view the original single, with a picture sleeve
* - Incredibly, the _only_ English studio album released while they were active was "The Yardbirds" in July 1966, unofficially known as "Roger The Engineer". This is compared to _FOUR_ US studio LP's - besides this, the other American albums were: 'Having A Rave-Up ... ', 'Over Under Sideaways Down' (abridged version of 'Roger The Engineer'), and 'Little Games'.
This album was ranked at #217 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of "the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time." / Click on Link above, to view the original album
* - when it was titled "SOMEBODY Loan Me a Dime". However, most people know it through Boz Scagg's cover on his second album/ Aug 1969, where it was titled 'Loan Me a Dime'
Dix Denney, the guitarist in the 1970s Punk-rock LA group The Weirdos, died March 12, 2023, at the age of 65. His brother John was the singer. / Click the Link above, left, to view the the original single, with a black/ white picture sleeve.

Comment:
The Ducks (formerly known as the Jeff Blackburn Band) were a short-lived American hard rock supergroup formed in the summer of 1977 by singer-songwriter Jeff Blackburn. The band included Bob Mosley (an original member of Moby Grape), Neil Young, and Johnny Craviotto. The band played a series of impromptu bar gigs around the Santa Cruz area in 1977. The set lists were very democratic, with each member of the band taking the lead in turn. / This will be their first official release - click on the Link above, left to read about this release.
