"Zevon was born in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Beverly Cope (née Simmons) and William Zevon. His father was a Jewish immigrant from Ukraine, whose original surname was Zivotofsky.[2] William Zevon worked as a bookie who handled volume bets and dice games for the notorious Los Angeles mobster Mickey Cohen.[3] He worked for years in the Cohen crime family, in which he was known as Stumpy Zevon, and was best man at Cohen's first wedding.[4] Warren's mother was from a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints family and was of English descent.[5][6][7] They moved to Fresno, California. "Davis was interviewed in 1972 and said he hated this song. His greatest fear was that he would turn into Mr. Bojangles. He'd be 70 years old and just be talking about how life used to be...that _culmination of black performers_…he saw them _disappear,_ he said, into drugs or alcohol, or _wiped out by the changing of times._"

Redd Foxx (1922-1991) was an African American comedian. Don't know Moody's relationship to him, or the inspiration for the tune. One anecdote -- when Foxx died in 1991, there was no money for his funeral…the IRS had seized his assets. Eddie Murphy stepped in the pick up the tab. Link connects to Foxx "uncensored"
Egoyan was born in Victoria, British Columbia.[1] Her Armenian parents, Shushan and Joseph, both painters, ran an art gallery/furniture store in Cairo, Egypt, before emigrating to Canada in 1962. They settled in Victoria, where they took over a home furnishings/design store...didn't own a piano, but as a young girl, Eve began to see the piano as a “safe, private place”. Egoyan took lessons from an elderly neighbour.
Calvin Coolidge Hernton (April 28, 1932 — September 30, 2001), born in Chattanooga, was an American sociologist, poet and author, particularly renowned for his 1965 study Sex and Racism in America, which has been described as "a frank look at the role sexual tensions played in the American racial divide, and it helped set the tone for much African-American social criticism over the following decade. From his Oberlin College obit, colleague Yakubu Saaka wrote: In the 30 years or so that I knew Calvin, I was always fascinated with what seemed to an obsession with dark glasses. The guy wore those shades all the time—sometimes even at night. Although I never had the courage to ask him why myself, I think I overheard Maya Angelou or one or other of his famous female writer friends explain the riddle of the dark glasses. Apparently he simply wore them because it made him look cool. With a middle name like Coolridge, I guess that explanation makes sense.
"Davis is a Canadian born jazz pianist (1980). She teaches at the Maine Jazz Camp and at the Queens College. Here, she's in duet with drummer Terri Lynne Carrington (teaches at Berklee). "
From wiki: This is the fifth studio album by the English band Pink Floyd...The cover was designed by Hipgnosis (artists' collective), and was the band's first not to feature their name, or have photographs of them on any part of it (see link). This was a trend that would continue on subsequent covers throughout the 1970s...Although it was commercially successful on release, the band — particularly Roger Waters and David Gilmour — have expressed negative opinions of the album._A really awful and embarrassing record,_ said Waters.
