His big hit, in the 60's, was "A Hundred Pounds of Clay" and wrote "Feel Like Makin' Love", a #1 hit and other songs for Roberta Flack, Aretha Franklin, Donny Hathaway, Gladys Knight & The Pips, , Ray Charles, Johnny Mathis and others. And, his famous song, "Compared to What", sung by Les McCann & Eddie Harris.
